What you should know about Turnaround Management Association - Southern Africa
The core purpose of Turnaround Management Association of Southern Africa is strengthening the economy through the restoration of corporate value. TMA-SA aims to equip its members with skills and knowledge for the first three stages of corporate decline in the timeline of financial distress. Improved business transformation and turnaround of declining and under performing businesses through: earlier and improved management-led correction by timeously acting on early warning signals, with the objective of avoiding the need for lenders such as banks to intervene through workouts. More successful informal creditor workout, should problems worsen and become more acute, with the objective of avoiding the need for formal business rescue. Business rescue represents the formal sector application of turnaround. We do welcome however, those insolvency professionals that wish to become active in business rescue. TMA members will be universally recognized for their expertise, knowledge, and experience. In our future, companies turn first to a TMA member to help them achieve their goals. We are a worldwide community of professionals who drive business to individuals who work with companies to increase enterprise value, preserve equity, manage disruption, and drive significantly improved results. TMA SA’s mission is to serve as a forum for professionals from all disciplines engaged in the corporate renewal activities of business transformation, turnaround and business rescue to enable networking, to promote high standards of practice and foster professional development through education as well as well as through knowledge capture and dissemination, and to enhance the image of TMA-SA members. The Executive Committee shall have and exercise the authority of the Board of Directors and the management of the TMA-SA during the period between meetings of the Board of Directors. No person may be elected to the Board of Directors if such election would permit him or her to serve for three (3) consecutive full three-year terms, unless waived by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will be chaired by a non-Executive Chairman who shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and board subcommittees. The elected CEO will automatically assume the position of the Non-Executive Chairman after one year. The elected COO (CEO-elect) will automatically assume the position of CEO after one year, and the position of Non-Executive Chairman the year thereafter. Vacancies may be filled or new executive director functions created and filled at any meeting of the Board of Directors, for the unexpired portion of the term.
