Traffic Freeflow currently operates with 84 Static and 26 Mobile Pointsmen and Women in Johannesburg, in close collaboration with the City Of Joburg, JMPD and JRA.
We aim to alleviate traffic congestion by providing highly trained, dedicated and passionate Pointsmen and Pointswomen. There are two types of Pointsmen: Static Pointsmen, who are assigned to specific high-traffic intersections and Mobile Pointsmen, who are dispatched on motorcycles to traffic hot spots at a moment's notice, and are thus able to respond quickly to major intersections that are experiencing faulty/malfunctioning traffic signals. Traffic FreeFlow is committed to being the most professional service provider for relief of traffic congestion in South Africa; contributing toward road safety and creating job opportunities in underprivileged communities. Sponsors will enjoy significantly increased brand equity together with a worthy, measurable, visible Corporate Social Responsibility Investment through the association with the project. The Public Sector receives the direct benefit of support from our dedicated and passionate Staff at no additional cost to them. Gauteng has one of the country's highest traffic densities and consequently one of the highest road fatality rates. the most professional service provider for the relief of traffic congestion in South Africa., ensuring that our Static and Mobile Pointsmen and Staff Members are nurtured, developed and empowered through a compassionate, micro-managed organisation. The result is a safer working environment for the Staff and reduced congestion for the Motorists. The Public Sector receives the direct benefit of support at no additional cost to them. When the Pointsmen Initiative was first launched in 2005, only 21 static pointsmen were deployed in Johannesburg. Today, thousands of Gauteng motorists rely on the assistance from a team of 232 mobile and static pointsmen to guide them through the chaos of morning and afternoon peak hour traffic. It is also making a worthy contribution towards job creation for people from underprivileged communities, and freeing up resources for Metro Police to use for by-law enforcement rather than for conducting point duty.’ Our listeners rely on us for up-to-date traffic reporting and we believe that the Pointsmen Project offers us a solid opportunity to take our traffic reporting to the next level. In addition, we also get the opportunity to get more involved with the community and engage with our listeners.’ Traffic Freeflow is an independent company that runs the pointsmen project in conjunction with the cities of Johannesburg and Tshwane. OUTsurance acted as primary sponsor from the very beginning of the project. Mobile pointsmen respond to critical hot spots via motorcycles where traffic signals are down or malfunctioning during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Static pointsmen report to the same location daily to assist with traffic congestion at assigned intersections.
