We are affiliated, as an educational institution, to the Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg. The bishop of the diocese is the spiritual head and visitor on our council. As a Christian institution we espouse the values that Jesus, the Christ, taught. We aim to equip our students with a holistic education that encompasses spiritual, intellectual, physical and social aspects. Most days begin with a reading from the Holy Scriptures and prayer. Tolerance and understanding are stressed in studies of other beliefs. This means that St Stephen’s opens its confirmation programme to St Peter’s College students each year. Grant unto us to waste none of its hours; To soil none of its moments; To neglect none of its opportunities; To fail in none of its duties. And bring us, Lord, to the evening time undefeated by any temptation, at peace with ourselves, at peace with others and at peace with You. The St Peter’s College Council promotes the school's mission and strategic plans, appoints and oversees the headmaster, establishes broad policies, and develops and shepherds the capital resources of the school. The individuals on the council possess a wide range of experience and interests that are representative of our school community. The St Peter's College Executive team is responsible for strategy implementation and the day-to-day operations of the College. The MADD Centre is a world-class facility often likened to university standard. It houses state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully equipped auditorium; seven music practice rooms; a percussion room; visual art, music, drama and dance studios; an iLab; theory room and meeting rooms. The Wahoo indoor aquatics centre is situated on the College campus and is home to our swimming and water polo teams. Other sporting facilities include tennis, netball and basketball courts, cricket nets and a trim park. We offer golf as a co-curricular activity and are fortunate that we have the Leeuwkop Golf Club around the corner for practice and games. It is a society for all past pupils who attended St Peter's College. OPAS has an identity synonymous with excellence and aims to passionately enable, enhance and sustain the personal and professional relationships built at St Peter's College. Supporting our current student body with presentations, talks and at sporting and cultural events. The cornerstone of any successful school lies in the quality of its teachers. Without empathetic, committed and, above all else, passionate and dedicated educators, a school is no more than a collection of buildings. Today, of course, teachers need to add another string to their bow as they educate our children to become responsible and disciplined members of the wider South African community. We must focus all our attention on filling young people with a love and a conviction for South Africa and for making a difference in this dynamic, young and vibrant democracy.
