Founding Member States of NEPAD included South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and Senegal. NEPAD Secretariat coordinates the implementation of NEPAD programmes and projects. The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) is established in February 2010 as an outcome of the integration of NEPAD into AU structures and processes. The AU, the successor to the OAU, endorses the adoption of NEPAD as a programme of the AU at the AU Inaugural Summit in The NEPAD Agency establishes four Investment Programmes to address new and emerging trends in Africa. The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) was established in 2010 as an outcome of the integration of NEPAD into AU structures and processes. The NEPAD Agency is the implementing agency of the African Union that advocates for NEPAD, facilitates and coordinates the development of NEPAD continent-wide programmes and projects, mobilises resources and engages the global community, regional economic communities and member states in the implementation of these programmes and projects. The NEPAD Agency replaced the NEPAD Secretariat which had coordinated the implementation of NEPAD programmes and projects since Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of continental and regional priority programmes and projects. The programme works to address issues of economic and social exclusion of youth by facilitating the creation of opportunities and employment that enable them connect with the mainstream and hence enhance their contribution in the achievement of a prosperous continent. The harmonisation of regional and national policies on infrastructure, market development and trade, as well as improve regional infrastructure in ICT, transport, water and energy, are cornerstones of this programme. The focus of the programme is to strengthen agriculture, bolster food and nutrition security, promote the blue economy, improve environmental governance, and promote sustainable mining at the national, regional and continental level. A key aim is to facilitate the adoption of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. In this position, President Sall spearheads the implementation of NEPAD programmes and projects through leadership and guidance. He is a member of several national and international associations of Geologists and Geophysicists. This lawyer was a Minister several times; he served as the director of Civil Cabinet of the President of the Republic, Prime Minister, Head of Government, and President of a Grand Institution of the Republic, namely; the Economic, Social and Cultural Council, where he had to carry out and manage major issues. The Chairperson of the Commission is the Chief Executive Officer, legal representative of the AU and the AU Chairperson’s Chief Accounting Officer. He is directly responsible to Executive Council for the discharge of his duties. The NEPAD Agency provides the Chairperson with technical support on drafting the Chair's summary report to the Assembly and prepares the draft decision to be tabled in the Assembly for resolution. The HSGOC provides leadership to the NEPAD process, sets policies, priorities and the programmes of action. Membership of the other 15 member states rotates every two years,or following regional consultations within the AU. The NEPAD Agency has a total of 136 staff working in its offices in Johannesburg, Dakar, Ouagadougou and Kampala. NEPAD also has country offices and secretariats in Nairobi, Kenya, and Lagos, Nigeria.
