Enabling healing & wholeness to families affected by HIV & AIDS in vulnerable communities.

Our Mission To enable healing and wholeness through psychosocial care ( emotional support, follow-up counselling, support groups, and spiritual support). To assist projects dealing with mental health care in vulnerable communities impacted by HIV & AIDS. Access to such support enables people to reduce any sense of isolation, disclose their positive status, live positively and prevent further HIV transmission. ’ UK Consortium on AIDS and International Development. 'Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. ' AIDS MAP provides evidence-based information and resources on medical and social aspects of HIV for those living with HIV and those who treat, support and care for them. AVERT is an international HIV and AIDS charity with projects in the most heavily impacted countries. The site provides information about prevention, testing, and care and additionally covers all the history and science of the epidemic. The website provides insights into research project about prevention, care and related areas such as traditional medicine. Collation of baseline information through interviews, questionnaires, and focus groups using a mix of quantitative and qualitative means of data gathering. Monitoring and evaluation indicators were drawn up in partnership with Philimpilo. Ekurhuleni, historically called the East Rand and known as South Africa’s manufacturing heartland, has experienced the highest population growth in South African metropolitan areas in recent years as it continues to attract migrant labourers seeking low and semi-skilled jobs. Overcrowding, poor infrastructure and a backlog of housing development, have lead to the building of second structures (backyard rooms and shacks) and informal settlements, which contribute to poor hygienic conditions and high stress levels that threaten the physical and mental health of its inhabitants. HIV infection is a major risk due to the population profile of poverty, gender inequality, and migrant labour. Income generated through Philimpilo fundraising activities is channeled to community projects (see under Projects) associated with the Bryanston Bible Church (BBC). BBC provides management oversight and mentoring to the projects;this is key to ensuring the sustainability of these programmes. Care workers provide high quality care, clean homes, help family members cope, assist in funeral arrangements when necessary and counsel patients. These gardens are part of an ongoing self-sustaining project to provide food and income for the families. It is made up of 8 different teams catering to Thembalethu’s diverse community. The main aim of the organisation is to share the love of God in the community, through counselling, providing love and support for orphaned and vulnerable children, creating opportunities for them, and alleviating poverty and suffering as much as possible. They play sports, videos, games, and at least once a year take them on an exciting outing, giving them an opportunity that they would never have had the chance to do; visit places like game reserves; go surfing in Durban, watch movies on IMAX, and go to aquariums. They clean houses for those who can’t, and build loving friendships with many. House building project: Basic, low cost housing for those in desperation. Sustainable development (small businesses and projects) and empowerment of individuals to create and sustain their own source of income.
