Our vessels are all equipped with their own cranes with a lift capacity of 240 tonnes, giving us the ability to load and unload a multitude of cargoes effectively and safely, from container, bulk and breakbulk to project cargoes. The MACS operation is spearheaded by its fleet of Multipurpose vessels capable of handling every type of cargo and containers. Our vessels are all equipped with their own cranes with a lift capacity of up to 240 tonnes, giving us the ability to load and unload a multitude of cargoes effectively and safely, from container, bulk and breakbulk to project cargoes. The open hatch configuration and movable horizontal and vertical hold separations and the bulk-head design of our vessels enables the flexibility to cater for a wide range of cargoes in an optimally efficient and safe manner. MACS owns its own container fleet, leasing containers as and when necessary. All containers are certified to the latest requirements (ACEP) and are overseen with meticulous attention by our in-house logistics team. We keep our fleet young with a low average age by refreshing the fleet with new units on a regular basis. With the versatile configuration and design of our vessels we can accommodate almost any cargo you can think of, try us you might be pleasantly impressed. No other carrier between Europe, Southern Africa and the United States offers such flexibility. As the only true Multipurpose carrier, MACS is able to carry a combination of bulk, big bags, steel products, vehicles, project cargoes, heavy lifts and containers on each of our specialized vessels. On inducement the line will also call at other European ports, such as Bilbao. In Southern Africa MACS offers the following main ports: Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richards Bay. The UK is connected to the MACS vessels with a dedicated service for the shipment of containers and conventional cargoes. On demand MACS will charter dedicated tonnage to perform shipments of bulk or project cargoes exceeding the liner vessels capabilities. In Southern Africa GAL offers the following home ports: Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay and Maputo. In Europe the MTA Service offers the following base ports: Immingham, Brake, Antwerp and Bilbao. On inducement the line will also call at other European ports. In North America the MTA Service offers the following base ports: Altamira (Mexico), Houston and New Orleans. MACS in the only conventional liner carrier connecting the UK directly with North America. Once a vessel from Southern Africa is due to discharge in Rotterdam a DFDS vessel is chartered to pick up the cargo and deliver it to Immingham. Containerized cargo and conventional cargo can be shipped via this link at very competitive rates. MACS charters coasters so as to offer our customers efficient and competitive solutions for the precarriage of bulk, steel products, project cargoes and heavy lifts from the Mediterranean Sea. MACS offers connecting services for containerized and conventional cargo to Angola with our partners Angola South Line.
