The Institute of Directors in Southern Africa NPC (IoDSA) is a professional body recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and a non-profit company (NPC) that exists to promote corporate governance, and to maintain and enhance the credibility of directorship as a profession (SAQA ID: 836). Institute of Directors in London established a branch in South Africa to canvass the business community to join the London institute. The first King Report on Corporate Governance (King I) is issued and the King Committee assigns ownership of this and future reports to the IoDSA. As it evolved to become an independent institute in its own right, the IoDSA ends its formal affiliation under the IoD UK in favour of a relationship between equals. New branding is adopted to evidence this newly established identity. At the AGM new Articles of Association are adopted by members in terms of which governance is vested in a board of directors instead of Council. The Governance Assessment Instrument (GAI), a software tool that assist companies and other entities and organisations to implement, assess and report on the application of King III, is made available. These 2 hour sessions are aimed at providing delegates with a high level overview on current challenges or trends. An experienced director will facilitate the presentation and allow for discussion on the topic being covered. The aim of these 3 hour sessions are to offer directors (the mentees) who are building their careers to receive feedback and guidance from seasoned directors (the mentors). In-House Programmes The IoDSA has concluded over 700 presentations for organisations and in many cases, developed a long-term Director Development offering with these organisations, incorporating some of our other Board Services to ensure a holistic approach to board development and enhancement.
